Autogas is gaining increased support as an environmentally friendly automotive fuel, particularly in towns and cities where heavy duty vehicles and public transport fleets are causing significant pollution problems.Compared to petrol, autogas reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 20%, while noise pollution can be reduced by up to 50%. There are also substantially lower emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen.

Autogas can provide clear, tangible costs savings by offering fuel bill reductions of approximately 50%. Such savings are the result of government support for the fuel (given its environmental credentials), with duty on Autogas being significantly lower than that on petrol and diesel.However, it also offers intangible savings in the form of reduced vehicle maintenance costs.
