Flogas has been a supporter of Inver Colpa Rowing Club in Drogheda since 2011 and was delighted to sponsor a new set of oars for the 2020 season.

Glenda Murphy, club secretary, said, “Having a new set of oars sponsored by Flogas is great news for the club. We have two boats, so to have a set of oars for each means that all our boats can go out on the water on training nights at the same time, so there’s no waiting around for our members.”

Eoin O’Flynn, marketing manager, Flogas Ireland, said, “It’s a pleasure to be able to support such a community minded club like Inver Colpa, which has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, thanks to its very active committee.”

Inver Colpa had an excellent season in 2019. As usual, it hosted the annual Boyne boat race over the May bank holiday weekend and in July, at the annual Glenarm Regatta on the Antrim coast, its novice crew took first place in their first-ever sprint race, the men’s crew came second in theirs, while the ladies crew and juvenile crews came home third in their respective classes. In September, a mixed crew took part in the annual around Lambay Island Rowing Challenge and despite choppy weather conditions, won in their category and were presented with a Perpetual Cup for their efforts. The last race of the season was the 18km Barrow river challenge in September at which two novice crews took part and finished in good time.

Glenda Murphy added, “ Inver Colpa has been granted a lease on the land next to the Boyne fisherman rescue and recovery on which to build a premises, which is fantastic news. The club is looking into grants and additional fundraising to assist with it. We wouldn’t be where we are now without the support of our members and we’re planning to extend our membership even more this year.”
