Richard Martin wins 2019 Flogas Perpetual Shield

Richard Martin from Bellewstown was declared the Overall Winner of the recent 2019 Flogas Clay Pigeon League, run by the Bellewstown Game and Wildlife Club, and was presented with the Flogas Perpetual Shield, the top trophy of the competition.

It was Richard Martin’s first time to win the League and at the final, the veteran shooter scored an impressive 144 ex 160 points, followed closely by Johnny Dickson (143 pts), John Ennis (142 pts), Vincent Doran (136 pts), Davin McCormack (136 pts), Nigel Maxon (136 pts), James Russell (127 pts), Mark Murray (125 pts), Ken Murray (122 pts), Peter Maxon (113 pts), Patrick Mathews (104 pts) and Joe Martin (100 pts).

The overall winner is determined by the total number of points each competitor scores in the five individual Perpetual Cup competitions that together make up the League. This year, the Alfie Fynes Perpetual Cup was won by John O’Connor; the PJ Conway Perpetual Cup by John Ennis; The Willie Irwin Perpetual Cup by David McCormack; the Flogas Perpetual Cup by Vincent Doran and the Pat Fallon Perpetual Cup by Richard Martin.

Robert Irwin from Flogas presented the Flogas-sponsored prizes and he said "Congratulations to Richard Martin on his first league win and it’s a pleasure to present the Flogas Perpetual Shield to my former boss! It was a very close competition this year as due to the high standard of marksmanship, numerous exciting shoot-offs were necessary to decide the winners of the individual Perpetual Cups throughout the summer."
