Case Study - Diageo Forklift Team

Prior to the Flogas team's involvement, the forklift team at the Diageo Global Supply warehouse operated on electricity. Analysis showed that the battery recharging process was taking 8 hours, battery changeovers were labour and time-intensive, with reduced performance just before recharging and at the end of life - an unsatisfactory scenario in a warehouse with such a high volume of traffic.

The Flogas Solution

Following detailed analysis and evaluation, Flogas recommended a switch from electric to Liquid Gas-powered forklifts. Similar to electricity, it offers a clean, virtually odourless and soot-free solution- all critical factors in an indoor warehouse with consumable products- but it also comes with a whole host of other benefits, including a lower cost of ongoing service and maintenance compared to the electric trucks.

Diageo opted for forklifts with permanently mounted LPG tanks and a Flogas Forklift Refuelling Unit. The storage of a Liquid Gas on-site in bulk allows for instant refills with no downtime. Essentially, the LPG system ticks all the right boxes.

  • No downtime
  • Extended engine life
  • Low maintenance
  • No manual handling
  • High-level engine performance
  • Low CO2 emissions
  • Low running costs

Successful implementation has resulted in increased performance levels, low maintenance, cost savings and another happy client. Following the switch to Liquid Gas at their Nangor Road warehouse in Dublin, Diageo have now made the switch from electric to Flogas Liquig Gas Forklift trucks at their Belfast facility.
